This week sees county wide Hepatitis C awareness/ Naloxone training in County Durham. All of the County Durham HUBS are undertaking a targeted piece of work supported by Spectrum and Humankind members of staff in partnership and part of the Hepatitis C steering group.
Clients are being offered Instant Blood Borne Virus Testing alongside training to administer Naloxone in an overdose situation and take home supply.
Clients are also offered fruit and drinks while waiting for their test results and staff have been using this opportunity to deliver health promotion messages and harm reduction advice.
Staff from both Humankind and Spectrum also attended a training session to administer Naloxone in an overdose situation and were taught how to deliver training to clients, parents, carers and others to facilitate the uptake of take home Naloxone.
