The campaign, which follows a similar one last summer, provides up-to-date information for party-going young people in the area to make smart choices and reduce potential harm at this time of year.
Clare Chambers, Director at County Durham Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service said: “As the summer parties and the festival season arrives, we are advising people that they can have fun in a way that means you and others look to minimise the risks involved.
“We know from experience that people can get carried away at festivals and events. This years’ Wasted This Summer campaign offers practical advice to help people understand how their choices about alcohol and drugs can have an impact on the way they behave. Ultimately we’re looking to help people stay safe this summer.”
The campaign will be supported by social media messages that can be shared with the hashtag #WastedSummer.
Hints and tips include advice on staying hydrated, how to minimise risks and what to do in the event of someone being unwell.
